Heartland Express is a Fortune 500 company that relocated their corporate headquarters to North Liberty, Iowa. MMS assisted with site layout and provided site civil design and construction staking services on this project. Some of the unique design challenges of this project include providing for two 20,000 gallon underground diesel fuel tanks and a 5000 gallon underground gasoline tank for the fueling station as well as new and used oil storage tanks for the maintenance building. Two oil/water separators were included in the design to treat runoff from the truck wash and fuel tank areas. The design of the site included an on site storm water management facility which featured a series of bio-swales for treatment of storm runoff from the site as well as the outlet of the oil/water separators. Another challenging aspect of the site design was the over twelve acres of concrete pavement that were placed on the site. Overall MMS was involved in all stages of this project, from site planning and layout, site civil design and construction layout staking to ensure that Heartland Express was able to create the beautiful corporate headquarters they envisioned.
